DNA Mix in the Museum

Friday, June 27, 2014 - 6:45pm to 9:30pm

The Natural History Museum’s exhibition Genome: Unlocking Life’s Code provided the inspiration and the setting for an event that mixed socializing and science to create a party as unique as a strand of your own DNA.

Author and science storyteller Sam Kean, whose books include The Violinist’s Thumb and The Disappearing Spoon, shared tales about DNA you definitely won’t find in a medical text. Pat Phelps, a Smithsonian genetics education specialist, led informal activities that included DNA trivia and creating some incredibly cool art using the materials and techniques of DNA testing.
